The Capitals fought hard but could not pull ahead of the Blues. It seems like the boys just haven't figured how to really beat teams yet. The Blues struck first with a breakaway goal just 45 seconds into the game. The overall play was even and both teams failed to covert on 5 on 3 advantages. The Caps really need to work on not taking penalties at critical times. Several times they seemed to have the momentum and a penalty would kill it. For the second consecutive night they scored a goal with the goaltender pulled but couldn't get the equalizer. Fresh off signing a new contract Alexander Semin re injured his ankle in the first period and did not play the rest off the game. The bright spot was the Caps never gave up on the game. They fought until the bitter end. They get another shot at a win on Monday in Toronto.
