The Caps worked hard to defeat the Caps 3-1 at Verizon Center. Jose Theodore had his best performance this season stopping 32 of 33 shots. Brooks Laich, Tomas Fleischmann, and Alex Ovechkin all picked up goals on the night. The Cap's Alexander Semin left the game in the second period with an undisclosed injury and is listed as day-to-day for tonight's match up in Jersey.Of Note:
- Viktor Kozlov collected an assist on Tomas Fleischmann's goal for the 500th point in his NHL career.
- Brooks Laich scored on the Cap's only power play attempt. He deflected an Alex Ovechkin shot past the New Jersey net minder. The Caps killed off both of New Jersey's power play attempts.
- Mike Green picked up 2 assists in the game and 5 points in the last three games.
- Ovechkin has scored a goal in 3 consecutive games. His goal was the 6th empty net goal in his career.
- John Erskine blocked 5 shots in the effort. Brooks Laich and Dave Steckel each blocked 4.
- The Capitals head back to Newark tonight to face the Devils on the back half of the home-and-home.
