The Caps are coming off a 5-4 loss to the defending Eastern Conference Champion Ottawa Senators. The Caps had the lead 3-1 midway through the hockey game. The Senators scored 4 consecutive goals but the Caps could only muster one more goal before the end of regulation. The Caps will look to work on their penalty killing as in both preseason games have been turned while the opposition was on a 5 on 3 man advantage. The power play has looked much improved with the addition of Tom Poti at the point. He recorded 2 points against Ottawa in Thursday's game with a goal and an assist. Head Coach Glen Hanlon has put an emphasis on winning in training camp and the Caps have responded with leads in each game. Against Tampa, a Southeast Division foe the Caps will face 8 times this season, he will need the Caps to start learning how to finish teams off when they get that lead.
In other team news, the Caps sent Defensemen Sasha Pokulok, and Tyler Sloan to Hearshey.
