Game #56 Recap - Capitals 1 Hurricanes 2

The young Capitals got a taste of what it means to be on top. The lesson they should have learned is to expect the oppositions best. The Capitals did not play particularly well but were still in the game till the end. They were done in by a couple of turnovers in the first period leading to both Carolina goals. The Capitals did learn how to get a goal against a hot goal tender as Alexander Semin scored on a great individual effort with about 10 minutes remaining in the third. Sometimes you need a garbage goal on a broken play. The power play continued to sputter as they went 0-7 on the night. The Caps will try and turn it around tomorrow against the Rangers.

Of Note:
  • Donald Brashear recorded his 2,400th penalty minute. 238 of them coming as a member of the Capitals.
  • Viktor Kozlov recorded his 2,000th shot on goal. He had 4 in the game and 145 on the season.
  • The Caps' Matt Bradley and John Erskine both fought in the first period.
  • The Capitals power play has scored one time in the last 8 games going 1 for the last 24 attempts.
  • The loss moved the Caps from 3rd to 10th in the standings.
