Preview:
The
Capitals face the Tampa Bay Lightning for the second time this season at
Verizon Center. With a 5 game winning streak the Lightning are playing well but
the Capitals started to get some of their form back with a win in Carolina. The
teams are 1-2 in the SE division and will want to make a statement. Tampa’s Steven
Stamkos is on pace for 50 goals in 50 games so the Caps will have to keep him
under wraps. Look for a fast paced physical game as both teams will try to
control the play. The Key for the Capitals is to get in on the forecheck and
keep the play in the Tampa end of the ice. Be sure to watch the matchup between
Nicklas Backstrom and Dominic Moore of Tampa, they did not play well together
last game. I think this will be a high scoring game with the Caps pulling it
out in the third period.
Joe’s
prediction: Caps 6 TAM 4
